Leitrim County

Co Leitrim has been declared a ’CETA/TTIP Free Zone’ following a motion by Sinn Féin councillor, Caroline Mulvey at Monday’s meeting of Leitrim County Council. Cllr Mulvey told the meeting that there was great concern at the European Commission proposal that EU members States should sign of support an agreement allowing ’provisional application’ of the Comprehensive Economic Trade Agreement (CETA) between Canada and the EU. "There are major concerns in Ireland and across Europe in relation to CETA," she said before proposing the council call on the Irish Government to not sign up to or authorise any ’provision application’ of CETA and to facilitate a full Dáil debate on this issue. She also asked that the Council back her call to decalre Co Leitrim a CETA/TTIP Free Zone. Her motion received unanimous support. http://www.leitrimobserver.ie/news/home/222864/co-leitrim-declared-a-ceta-ttip-free-zone.html#.WCJOeQGn_Vc.facebook
